Cooking With Frank’s Kraut
Yes, what could be more enjoyable that Cooking With Frank’s Kraut!? And when cooking with kraut, you should always Insist on Frank’s Fancy Quality. This fine little cookbook is from Frank Pure Food Company of Franksville, Wis. No date is noted, but I’m guessing late 40′s or early 50′s.
Along with fine recipes, it give a little history of kraut, the nutritional benefits, the modern method of manufacturing kraut, and even using kraut to slim that waistline!
Boy howdy! Being from Wisconsin myself, this cookbook sure exemplifies the stereotypical midwestern diet. Meat, potatoes, more meat, kraut, meat, gravy. If the addition of kraut helps keep the pounds off… well, then a lot of midwesterners aren’t eating enough kraut!
Actually, some of the recipes look quite tasty, and when I get up the courage, I’ll probably make some.
