The Mazola Salad Bowl

Dec 8th, 2009 by admin | 3

mazola_salad_bowl_1938The Mazola Salad Bowl cookbook was published in 1938 by the Corn Products Refining Company.  (Now that is an honest big-ag sort of name!)  This vintage cookbook has a rounded die-cut bottom where the salad bowl photo is.  This placement of a bowl or plate is consistent throughout, and is a clever design element (if you ask me.)  The cookbook contains a variety of salad recipes, most actually look good.  I was surprised to see that many recipes called for salad greens which are “fancy” greens these days.  Watercress, endive, and chicory.
