The French Cookbook

Dec 17th, 2009 by admin | 1

french_cookbookThe French Cookbook – 141 world-renowned French recipes, published in 1955 by the Culinary Arts Institute in Chicago. Ooow la, la! This fine vintage cookbook is filled with fine recipes that are “designed to bring French culinary art to the American home.” It is also filled with fine illustrations ranging from French maids to scenes of France’s history to the recipes and ingredients. The recipes cover a wide range… from Hors d’Oeuvres to soups, main dishes to sauces, baked goods and desserts. It even has a glossary of cooking terms.

Since I somehow ended up with two copies of this, I have one up for sale. This copy is in very good shape with only some slight creasing on the cover. The pages inside make it look as if it was hardly used. The only oddity is that two sets of pages were never stapled in with the rest and therefore are set in loose. I have this for sale in my Etsy shop which is linked to the right.
