Cool Vintage Salt & Pepper Shakers

I picked up this vintage pair of salt & pepper shakers a while back at a thrifty antique store, I just couldn’t pass them up! (My girlfriend seemed to think it was an odd purchase at first, but I think she warmed up to them.) I’m not sure what they are supposed to be… carrots? or Perhaps parsnips? Whatever they are, they are very cool!
